Trace Adkins Waiting For Civil War Trust Invitation To Celebrate 150Th Anniversary
Country star Trace Adkins has offered up his services to officials at the Civil War Trust to help mark the 150th anniversary of the American industrial battle.
The Chrome singer has harboured a life-long love of Civil War history after growing up with stories about his great-great grandfather Henry T. Morgan's military service in Louisiana, and although he's not been officially invited to take part in any celebration events over the next five years, during the anniversary period, he's making sure Trust organisers are aware that he's ready and waiting to be called up for duty.
Adkins tells Reuters, "I'm not involved in any music, but I've told my manager that I want to be as involved as I can be these next few years with the Civil War Trust and helping to preserve the Civil War battlefields that are in disrepair.
"It is so important for people to be able to be a part of history by being able to go to these places and see where history was made. History means so much more to people when they can stand on the ground where one of these battles took place and hear about it and learn about it."
Adkins is already doing his bit to preserve the battle grounds and spoke at a hearing before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. in April (11).
