Susan Boyle To Play Herself In 'I Dreamed A Dream'
Susan Boyle, the 50-year-old Scottish singer, is to make a guest appearance in a stage musical based on her own life story. Boyle, who became an international superstar after competing on Britain's Got Talent, will appear as herself during the finale of 'I Dreamed a Dream', reports BBC News.
ELAINE C SMITH, the actress best known for starring in the BBC comedy show 'RAB C NESBITT' has already signed on to play Boyle, and will portray the singer throughout the rest of the show. Speaking about her guest appearance, Susan said, "I am thrilled to be a part of the musical about my life story and very much looking forward to stepping on stage and performing with the cast. It is an honest portrayal of my life and has been a cathartic process to be involved in". The musical will tell the true story of Boyle's unexpected rise to global prominence - starting with her humble beginnings in Blackburn, West Lothian, to her record breaking success in the musical industry. Her albums 'The Gift' and 'I Dreamed a Dream' both reached No. 1 in the UK and the US - matching the success of The Beatles and The Monkees. Producer of the upcoming musical Michael Harris said, "Having Susan join the cast to perform the finale of her musical is amazing for both ourselves and audiences across the UK and Ireland".
The production will premiere at Newcastle's Theatre Royal next March before touring the UK.
